Total War: EMPIRE App Reviews
Personal favorite in the TW Series, and in my top 5 ever with 30 years of gaming. Had this on PC before upgrading to a Mac. Runs even smoother now than it did on the PC! This is a must have title for any serious strategy gamer. Not for the meek however as the strategic elements and battle mechanics create a fairly steep learning curve. That aside, it’s a beautiful game with heaps of replay value. A two-button mouse should be listed as a requirement. It’s virtually unplayable without one.
in order to use the right click on macbook go to settings then trackpad then point and click and turn on the secondary click and adjust whether u want to double click, click on right corner or click on left corner and then launch the game. this will give you the right click ability when u play the game. this will give control. glad to help those with complaints about this problem. i am a great fan of this game and highly recommend this to others.
Boring game. I’m forcing myself to play it, so that I dont feel that I wasted money. Its slow and has very limited outcomes and direction of circumstances. It kind of plays itself.
I liked it, took a little while before I could really get into the game and the battles are sometimes slow but all in all. After giving this game hours of play time i find its one of the best from the total war series.
Looking to play someone online

Great game just awesome, i play for hours on end. you also get a history lesson to. If your looking for a strategy game look mow further i highly recommend this to any gamer.
Tried this four times still won’t download or install. Very terrible support page and cant find any place to contact for help. Dont waste your money. Reading reviews, this seems to happen to some people. Many other games work fine on my iMac. No issues, XCOM, Company of Heroes. All installed fine and work fine. Not too mention the games I have from Steam. I love these games, and a shame this happened.
I bought this game and download has failed. Please help me, I dont want money goes wasted. ps. pardon my English, its my fourth language. Ill give five stars if its allow me to get download and play without pay again. Thanks
I spent a couple months playing this game every night. It is totally awesome. It takes about an hour to get into it, because the learning curve is a bit steep. However, once you get the hang of whats going on (make sure to have the advice turned on), youll start doing some serious strategizing. Strategy, taking risks and the battles are what make Empire Total War a great game. You have to manage your money supply, all the while both defending your land and attacking others to increase your revenue flow. Unline Rome: Total War, where everyone seems like the enemy, Empire has a very sophisticated diplomacy system and its not all about war. Sure, there are other nations who want to take your valuables, but defend yourself well and many wont make the power play. Better yet, once you have an ally firmly established with great relations, they will even help to defend your land. When playing United Provinces, I became great friends with the Mughal Empire. Even when my most valuable lands had few troops defending, they never turned on me. I gifted them land in Europe, and they started lengthy campaigns to take out Austria, an enemy of both of ours. The battles are a lot of fun and require very careful and well executed actions. I have one of the new MacBook Airs and it runs great at high graphics. Gets a little hot though. All that said, this game of course has some drawbacks. The biggest issue is with enemy sieges. Time and time again, the computer failed to assault my bases, even when I was way outnumbered. It seemed the computer would glitch out a lot, constantly shifting their artillery around. At times, they just would not budge. I would have to exit my base with a small army, move towards them, and then they would start running at the base. Very strange. I have spent a great deal of time on full speed just trying to speed things a long. Very annoying. Other than that, the computer is fairly smart when doing normal land battles. Tip: to avoid getting your army blasted by cannons, place them at the bottom of the back of a hill. This way, the cannons sail right over your armys heads or hits the hill. It pretty much renders enemy cannons useless.
This game is loads of fun but once you get into the game you can expect it to always crash, for what it costs to purchase this game this problem should be fixed. Until the bugs are fixed I would suggest not purchasing it
I have yet to finish a campaign. The game crashes on load and there is nothing I can do to solve the problem. I have emailed the support people, and they told me they no longer support the game. What a waste of money. Never buy it again.
I WANT A REFUND!
I bought this and deleted it when i was cleaning my computer but now it says i didnt purchase it!
Fun Game, but Crashes
I have always enjoyed Total War games including this one, but I cannot complete the Road to Independence campaign because the game crashes.
I was impressed that Empire Total War worked on my 2010 iMac. It was definitely a risk to purchase but I enjoyed my first hour of the game, nonetheless. After the first hour, though, E:TW became a mess. The battles were, at times, nonsensical. For example, if you are in a fort, it is unbelievably easy to hold off an army with countless regiments if you have 1. The calvary will simply charge your walls like a bunch of idionts while you slowly pick them off from the top. I face-palmed after my first few fort battles. The AI seems to make decisions on the whim of a toddler. Foreign nations will inconsistenly declare war for no good reason. You’re starting to expel Britain from the colonies? Awesome, now Spain wants a piece and declares war on the US. You finally hold off Spain with the help of France? Well now France is going to try to take back all that land they helped you gain. Overall, I was drawn to the strategy and the time period, but Empire: Total War is a definite bust.
The game is good, but you want to be careful before you buy. The gameplay works well, it looks good, and its fun. The game requires strategy and patience, and if you dont have those you probably shouldnt buy, youre eventually going to want to declare war on someone, but it takes time to get your treasury wealthy enough so you dont go bankrupt in a prolonged conflict, and when you capture a reigon, it will sometimes require you to put down rebellions and such. Battles are incredibly difficult at first, but they become very fun once youre used to them. Overall really good, but the amount of patience and strategy required is great, so make sure thats what you want before you buy.
I love the Total War series (I have them all on my PC). I wanted to get this for my mac too. It was running well for a while, but suddenly, the save files crashed when I tried to open them and i could no longer access the campaign - i lost everything (I spent 2 weeks on a campagin before I lost it). Don’t buy it for the mac, its a waste of money, energy, and fun.
the game center function dose not come up when its searching for players to play online…i click it.. it says searching for players.. then after a wile it says.. failed to connect to players... what!!! please fix :(
worked well for about 9 months then about two weeks ago it just stopped loading saved games… it will load about 1/3 and then just crash. not my computer as it is a brand new macbook pro with all the “goodies”, per se. very anoying to say the least.
